IPv6 - is elegance part of your IT strategy?
IPv6 is in fact nothing new, since the first IPv6 addresses were put into operation over 10 years ago. It was only the shortage of free IPv4 addresses which generated the high level of pressure to act, something we all feel, and to drive forward the further widening of IPv6. Apart from the internet service providers, this also affects the IT departments of companies, which now finally have to face up to the challenge. Although the enormously enlarged address space of IPv6, when compared with IPv4, is the main driver for this, there are also many other attractions due to the numerous upgrading possibilities in the IPv6 protocol, which are good reasons for approaching this subject.
One can mention the mechanisms for QoS or for encryption and authentification, which are anchored in the protocol stack, as well as the possibility of being able to assign IP addresses automatically to terminals via autoconfiguration. Such mechanisms and other interesting upgrading possibilities, which are all available through the introduction of IPv6, do however also raise conceptional questions, which require a high degree of technical understanding, in order that all the concepts laboriously built up under IPv4 are not endangered.

Here you can build on the experience and expertise of ICB. Our experts understand all the facets of the IPv6 protocol, as well as the intricacies of its implementation into the manufacturers' operating systems and system components. The parallel operation of IPv4 and IPv6 has to be carefully planned, so that no unexpected situations arise, and this means for example that all filter controls in firewalls and package filters have to be revised.
The possibility of a globally unique identification for each IP enabled terminal, as well as of upgrades such as mobile IP, are making completely new concepts and communication opportunities possible. It will be interesting to see which services and and products will develop on the basis of IPv6 in the coming years - if you want to be part of this development, then we will be pleased to advise and support you. -
